There was a parade called the "Mermaid parade" It's a Brooklyn annual summer parade.
It's kind of a costume freak show as well.

Coney Island
Went to Coney island yesterday, just to check it out. Just to see the park once before they shutdown the cyclone. I hear they are gonna renovate the place, But other locals have said the city has been saying that for years...

Cool shots. Are the rides lit up at night? That would be fun to shoot. I just read about the Mermaid Parade on Laughing Squid this week: http://laughingsquid.com/25th-annual-coney-island-mermaid-parade/
I left before it got dark, but i am guessing it would look well lit and neato at night as well. Will have to check back when it's less crowded!
